Giungono al terzo album in studio gli Epica con “The Divine Conspiracy”. Un altro passo concreto della band olandese capitanata dalla talentuosa Simone Simons alla voce. “The Divine Conspiracy” è un lavoro molto completo, piùbasato sulle chitarre, con una maggiore presenza di cori, un composizione che porta ad un vero e proprio concept album sul profondo senso che lega tutte le religioni.
Questo filo conduttore, che si evidenzia in brani come “La’petach Chatat Rovetz ~ the Final Embrace”, “Death of a Dream ~ the Embrace that Smothers part VII”, “Living a Lie ~ the Embrace that Smothers part VIII”; “Fools of Damnation ~ the Embrace that Smothers part IX”, concetto nato già in “The Phantom Agony” (2003), è già presente nell’album “Prison of Desire” degli After Forever.
75 minuti di album; 75 minuti di metal che si fonde in varie forme da quella sinfonica aquella con armonie orientali o anche medievalei Una potente ritmica,dietro i tamburi Arien van Weesenbeek dei God Dethroned, le chitarre di Ad Sluijter , Mark Jansen (grunts & screams) sempre presenti e graffianti, su e giùe poi ovviamente la splendida voce di Simone Simons che amalgama con il suo calore potente e melodico, ammalia e stordisce. Gli estimatori degli Epica saranno soddisfatti e tutti i fan delle band di symphonic metal si compiaceranno nell’avere la conferma di questa band. Bei riff e allentamenti come “Beyond Belief” e “Never Enough”, potenza e velocità , “The Obsessive Devotion”, variano e ampliano le soluzioni. La band è riuscita a rendere compatto quest’album adattando ogni singolo brano, riff, armonia e melodia alla domanda che muove il senso dell’album.
