Agonia Records è stata oggetto di un’intensa battaglia da parte dei fan del metal, sconvolti dal fatto che l’etichetta abbia firmato con il leader degli Inquisition “Dagon” (all’anagrafe Jason Weirbach) he si è dichiarato colpevole di accuse legate alla pedopornografia nel 2009.
La Agonia Records, con sede in Polonia, è attiva dal 2003 e nel corso degli anni ha pubblicato i ‘Decrepit Birth’, ‘Origin’, ‘Arsis’, ‘Psycroptic’, ‘Hour of Penance’, ‘Atheist’ e decine di altre band. L’etichetta ha annunciato la firma degli Inquisition l’11 novembre scorso con l’uscita di un nuovo singolo e di un video musicale, ma è stato il flusso completo del nuovo album della band, pubblicato giovedì 19 novembre scorso, ad attirare l’attenzione e il contraccolpo del mondo del metal in generale. I fan del metal sono andati sui social media per sfogarsi a favore delle accuse di pedopornografia di Weirbach e sui suoi legami con la supremazia bianca. In seguito Agonia Records ha lanciato una difesa dei Weirbach (che è stata poi cancellata), ha bloccato un certo numero di utenti che erano critici nei confronti dell’etichetta, ha reso privato il proprio account Twitter e ha bloccato la possibilità di esprimere commenti sui video degli Inquisition.
