“Mother of Earth” è il primo singolo tratto da “The Task Has Overwhelmed Us” quarto volume della serie The Jeffrey Lee Pierce Sessions Project, in uscita il 29 settembre su Glitterhouse Records. La canzone è stata registrata da Dave Gahan dei Depeche Mode.
Concepito nel 2006 dal chitarrista Cypress Grove dei Gun Club, di cui Jeffrey Lee Pierce era il fondatore e principale compositore, dopo aver trovato alcune registrazioni inedite, sono usciti già 3 captioli: We Are Only Riders del 2009, The Journey Is Long del 2012 e Axels and Sockets del 2014.
