Dopo l’uscita del libro “The Decade That Rocked” del fotografo rock ‘n’ roll di fama mondiale Mark Weiss, il Monmouth Museum di Lincroft, New Jersey, ospita ora la mostra “Mark Weiss: The Decade That Rocked!”

“Mark Weiss: The Decade That Rocked!” presenta momenti sul palco e dietro le quinte e immagini inedite dei concerti piùstorici dell’epoca, dei tour e delle copertine di album multiplatino, tutte catturate attraverso l’obiettivo di Weiss. La mostra presenta anche cimeli della sua collezione privata e accompagna i visitatori nel viaggio di Weiss nel suo percorso per diventare uno dei fotografi piùiconici e celebrati del rock ‘n’ roll.

“Siamo molto entusiasti di avere il lavoro di Mark Weiss al Monmouth Museum”, dice Donna Kessinger del Monmouth Museum. “La mostra è un’istantanea della storia della musica”.

Oggi 12 settembre si terrà  un ricevimento d’inaugurazione tutto esaurito. Il ricevimento sarà  caratterizzato da un’esibizione dei membri dei WHITE TIGER, la prima band metal con cui Weiss ha fatto una sessione fotografica, diretta da Neal Thomas e dal chitarrista Dan Muro, la leggendaria band che ha dominato la scena dei club del Jersey dei primi anni ’80. La coppia si esibirà  come THE KILLIN’ FLOOR PROJECT con il noto produttore, ingegnere e proprietario dei Long Branch, Shorefire Recording Studios del New Jersey, Joe DeMaio.

 

Weiss got his start in photography as a teen in the 1970s in Matawan, New Jersey. After getting his first camera in trade for mowing a neighbor’s lawn for the summer, Weiss began sneaking into concerts, and the rest is quite literally rock ‘n’ roll history. He has traveled the globe photographing legends from VAN HALENOZZY OSBOURNEAEROSMITH and Mà–TLEY CRàœE to METALLICAGUNS N’ ROSESBON JOVI and KISSWeiss‘s iconic images capture the artists onstage, backstage, and behind the scenes. He documented historic events including the US FestivalLive Aid, the Moscow Music Peace Festival, and the PMRC hearings in Washington, DC. His photographs have been published in thousands of magazines worldwide, and he is responsible for two of the era’s defining album covers, BON JOVI‘s “Slippery When Wet” and TWISTED SISTER‘s “Stay Hungry”. His inimitable photographs helped craft the visual imagery of rock and metal in the 1980s and beyond.
