LLRNR: Ciao Mariza e benvenuta a LLRNR! Come ti senti dopo questi show?

LLRNR: Hai contattato direttamente tu i gruppi? Come?

Mariza: La nostra pagina ufficiale su Facebook è www.facebook.com/SleazeNRollFestival.

LLRNR: Sei anche l’organizzatrice dell’evento “After The Wave Festival”.

Mariza: Avrei in mente diverse bands.

Mariza: Grazie a voi. A presto allora!

English Version

LLRNR: Hi Mariza and welcome to LLRNR! You are one of the organizers, together with Dr.Love Production, of the 2nd edition of the Sleaze and Roll Festival that was held in Athens last weekend. How are you after the shows? I guess it’s has been quite busy days, isn’t it?

Mariza: Well this was the 3rd one actually .The first one was called “Live Fast Rock Young” and the line up was only Greek bands. I changed the name because I preferred something more easy to remember and it’s also the name of my old radio show when I used to work for Rockmachine.Gr. This one was definitely the hardest festival that I had to organize. We had eight bands and three of them were from abroad, so there were so many things to take care of until the day of the show. The two days of the show I had to be in the venue from the beginning of the first sound check to make sure that the time schedule wouldn’t go wrong. So I was up and running from 13.00 till 04.00 the next day. The same with the 2nd day where I also had to drive almost two hours to pick up Nasty Ratz from where they stayed and drive them to the airport at 06.30 in the morning. Today is April 13th and its four days after the festival but I still feel exhausted. The truth is though that I loved every minute of it and I wouldn’t change a thing of those two days.

LLRNR: Compared to the first edition (one day show) you have already doubled the gigs with two days full of bands from the Greek scene like Heavenblack, Ganzi Gun, Sleazy Lizards, Heart Attack, Wild Rose and bands from the European scene like Strangers, Nasty Ratz and Toxic Rose. How long does it take to organize this festival?

Mariza: I think I was organizing the whole thing for more than five months ! You have to be ready for everything that might go wrong! Of course many things did go wrong but in the end nobody was affected. I had enough time to fix it! For example, the Toxic Rose flight has been cancelled and they arrived fifteen hours later that expected. Fortunately I’ve booked their flight one day earlier compared to the day show and so they were on stage without any problem.

LLRNR: What are the main difficulties that you’ve faced during the organization phase?

Mariza: Because of Toxic Rose’s flight delay, I had to find someone available at 5.45 in the morning to pick them up from the airport. Which was really hard. I was constantly on Messenger with Toxic Rose trying to find a solution while I was working in the festival at the same time. I suggested a taxi but they didn’t feel comfortable with a stranger. It makes sense.

LLRNR: Did you contact directly the bands? How?

Mariza: Strangers contacted us through a friend and they asked to play in the festival. I listened to their album and I was sure that I wanted them in the line up. Nasty Ratz played in the 2nd edition and everyone loved them, so I asked them to come back. It was too easy for me because we are friends now! As for Toxic Rose, well I am a big fan of them since the EP so I found the guitar player in Facebook and I asked him if he would be interested. He said yes without second thought!

LLRNR: The event poster is really cool with the two flame fists in the background. Could you tell us more about it? Who realized it?

Mariza: Yes, the poster is awesome! It’s the best one so far! My very good friend Chris Siloma designed the poster. He is also the manager for Wild Rose. It was all his idea and I am proud of him, ahahah!

LLRNR: Where can we learn more about the festival, especially about the bands that were on the bill? is it there a Facebook page?

Mariza: Our official page on Facebook is www.facebook.com/SleazeNRollFestival. I think the better way to learn more about the bands is to find them on Facebook. They all have a Facebook page for their band. It won’t be hard!!

LLRNR: I’ve seen that you are the organizer of “After The Wave Festival” as well. Is this your full time job or just a hobby moved by your incredible passion for rock, especially for the Greek scene?

Mariza: Yes I am. “After The Wave Festival” is my first festival , which started in 2014, with Greek heavy metal bands. I organize it all by myself and I am really proud of it. It’s a festival mostly for young bands. This is definitely not my real job. This is clearly a hobby that satisfies my passion for metal music in general. I don’t like only greek bands and only one kind of metal! I also like Thrash and Power. My truly passion though is Hard Rock music in all its expressions.

LLRNR: Do you have already some ideas about the 4th edition? Sleaze ‘n Roll Festival 2018?

Mariza: I had many ideas but I don’t have the time to organize a 4th edition yet. It will take a while until there will be another Sleaze n’ Roll Festival. But when it does, I promise it will be the BEST! You should be there!

LLRNR: What are the bands (both from local and international scene) that you would like to see on stagefor the next edition?

Mariza: I have many bands that I would love to have in the next line up. Some of them are: Crazy Lixx, Dynazty, Eclipse, Houston, Tigertailz, H.E.A.T and Hardcore Superstar.

LLRNR: Do you have some advice to give to the young emerging greek bands?

Mariza: The competition gets bigger every day. So if you wanna stand out from the rest of the new bands, then you should be unique. That’s all that matters. Toxic Rose is a great example!

LLRNR: Thanks Mariza for your time and let us know when the next edition will be organized!

Mariza: Thanks to you and see you soon then!

All you need to know about me is that I was born and raised on Rock 'n' Roll. We'd better let the music do the talking, as Joe Perry used to say...
