Glii Smashing Pumpkins ha suonato un concerto speciale per il trentesimo anniversario a Holmdel, New Jersey, la scorsa notte (2 agosto).
La band è stata raggiunta da numerosi ospiti speciali tra cui Courtney Love, il frontman dei Deftones Chino Moreno, Peter Hook of Joy Division e New Order, il frontman degli AFI Davey Havok, Mark McGrath di Sugar Ray e Dave Keuning dei The Killers e Mark Stoermer.
Hanno anche eseguito il brano di Gish “Snail” per la prima volta in 18 anni.
Dave Keuning e Mark Stoermer dei The Killers si sono uniti al gruppo per “Cherub Rock” e “1979” mentre Mark McGrath di Sugar Ray hanno collaborato a una cover della hit del suo gruppo, “Fly” e una cover di Judas Priest’s ” Breaking the Law’.
Courtney Love è stato anche un ospite speciale ed è uscito per esibirsi in “Celebrity Skin” e “Malibu” di Hole, canzoni che sono state co-scritte dal frontman degli Smashing Pumpkins Corgan. Ha anche collaborato a una performance della canzone di Pumpkins “Bullet With Butterfly Wings”.
