Dodici anni fa ci lasciava Kelly Johnson, chitarrista delle Girlschool a soli 49 anni a causa di un tumore alla spina dorsale contro cui stava combattendo da sei anni.
Il 15 luglio del 2001 moriva Kelly Johnson Londra dove era nata il 20 giugno del 1958. Prima di innamorarsi della musica rock aveva studiato piano per poi passare a suonare la chitarra. Nel 1978 entra a far parte delle Girlschool (una dlle prime band tutte al femminile in un mondo che allora era principalmente dominato dagli uomini) e rimane nella band fino al 1983, anno in cui decide di spostarsi a Los Angeles.

It doesn’t shock or surprise me that there are so many of you here today for Kelly because Kelly touched all of our hearts with her love, friendship, her amazing persona and the way she inspired so many of us to take up or continue to play music. She was a true rock star, her agility on stage and when recording, her prolific song writing and strong delivery in every performance will always be remembered.
