Ron Asheton nasceva oggi, 17 luglio del 1948 a Washington. Famoso per la sua militanza negli Stooges, band da sempre definita come ispiratrice del punk degli anni 70. Negli Stooges entra nel 1967 e vi rimane fino al 1973, anno di scioglimento del gruppo. Incide un altro album con la band nel 2007, poi la morte avvenuta il primo gennaio 2009 a causa di un infarto nella sua casa di Ann Arbor in Michigan.
