La dipendenza dall’alcol del cantante James Hetfield ferma il prossimo tour mondiale in Australia e Nuova Zelanda dei Metallica, che dovevano esibirsi insieme agli Slipknot a partire dal 17 ottobre a Perth.

Siamo davvero spiacenti di informare i nostri fan che dobbiamo rimandare le prossime date in Australia e Nuova Zelanda.
Come molti di voi probabilmente sanno, nostro fratello James lotta e ha lottato con la sua dipendenza da e per molti anni. Ora sfortunatamente è dovuto rientrare in un programma di trattamento per lavorare di nuovo alla sua guarigione.
Vogliamo assolutamente tornare da voi appena la sua salute e gli impegni ce lo consentiranno. Vi faremo sapere il prima possibile. Siamo molto tristi per gli inconvenienti che causeremo a molti di voi, soprattutto quei fan così fedeli da viaggiare per grandi distanze per venire ai nostri show.

We are truly sorry to inform our fans and friends that we must postpone our upcoming tour of Australia and New Zealand.
As most of you probably know, our brother James has been struggling with addiction on and off for many years. He has now, unfortunately, had to re-enter a treatment program to work on his recovery again.
We fully intend to make our way to your part of the world as soon as health and schedule permit. We’ll let you know as soon as we can. Once again, we are devastated that we have inconvenienced so many of you, especially our most loyal fans who travel great distances to experience our shows. We appreciate your understanding and support for James and, as always, thank you for being a part of our Metallica family.
All tickets purchased to the shows in Australia and New Zealand, including Enhanced Experiences and Black Tickets, will be fully refunded. More details on how to obtain your refund are below.

L’annuncio del ricovero di Hetfield arriva proprio nel giorno dell’anniversario della morte di Cliff Burton, bassista dei Metallica dal 1982 al 27 settembre 1986 e dell’annuncio di un nuovo live aid per sensibilizzare su temi di ambiente e povertà denominato Global Goal Live: The Possible Dream, con una data per ogni continente.
L’ultimo show della band è stato quello con l’orchestra sinfonica di San Francisco per S&M²”, che arriverà nei cinema il 18 ottobre.
I problemi di alcolismo di Hetfield erano stati documentati nel documentario del 2004 “Some Kind Of Monster“.
