La rock band finlandese THE RASMUS rappresenterà la Finlandia all’Eurovision Song Contest a Torino il 12 maggio 2022.

Multi-platinum selling Finnish rock band THE RASMUS are set to represent Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest in Turin on 12th May 2022!
The band comments:
“We are really looking forward to come back to Italy. We have played in Milan many times and we always have a very good time there. And our bass player Eero lived in Italy for three years.”
The Rasmus were crowned the winner of Finland’s Eurovision selection contest, Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu (UMK), after delivering a knockout performance of the single Jezebel, which won over both the international jury and Finnish public, earning the band a landslide victory with 310 points.

“We did it! We are so happy. It was a super tough competition, all the other songs were very good,” says vocalist Lauri Ylönen. “We were preparing so hard for this for six months. We are really taken and honored and we will be working like pigs to represent Finland in the best way in Turin.”
Ahead of the highly anticipated Eurovision Song Contest, The Rasmus will perform at ESC Pre-Parties in Amsterdam on 9th April and in Madrid on 15th April.
Jezebel was co-written and produced by Desmond Child, who collaborated with The Rasmus on their seventh studio album Black Roses. Child is responsible for formulating some of rock’s biggest hits, with co-writer and production credits on iconic songs by KISS, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith and Alice Cooper, to name a few.
Singer Lauri Ylönen comments:
“It was awesome to work with Desmond again. He really knows how to put a hit song together. Jezebel is about a girl who takes what she wants, without asking. A free spirit.”
The band also announced the departure of founding guitarist Pauli Rantasalmi and introduced their new guitarist, Emilia ‘Emppu’ Suhonen. The UMK performance was the band’s first with their new lineup.
