Il triste addio di Lars Ulrich (Metallica) a Neil Peart. Il tributo dal mondo del Rock

Il batterista dei Rush Neil Peart è morto il 7 gennaio dopo aver combattuto contro un cancro al cervello per piùdi tre anni.

Il suo impatto sul Rock e sul Metal è stato immenso e i suoi amici hanno pubblicato commenti di tributo al leggendario batterista sui social media.

Devastati da questa enorme perdita, i membri di Guns N ‘Roses, Black Sabbath, Metallica, KISS, Megadeth, Anthrax, Slayer, Exodus, Nirvana, Stone Sour e altri hanno tutti ricordato lo scomparso Neil.

Peart ha forse avuto il maggiore impatto su Lars Ulrich dei Metallica e su Mike Portnoy, ex Dream Theater, che hanno condiviso alcune parole toccanti sul loro caro amico ed eroe personale.

In particolare il batterista danese ha scritto: 

Grazie Neil. Grazie per avermi ispirato e per tutto il tuo aiuto e i consigli in questi anni, specialmente nei primi tempi in cui hai avuto il tempo di parlare con un giovane batterista danese che non sapeva niente della registrazione, dell’attrezzatura e delle possibilità  che potevo avere. Grazie per quello che hai fatto per i batteristi di tutto il mondo con la tua passione, il tuo approccio, i tuoi principi e il tuo costante impegno con lo strumento! Riposa in pace.

It absolutely breaks my heart to pieces to get the news of the passing of one of my greatest heroes of all time. Neil Peart will always be a mentor and a hero to me and his influence on me as a drummer for the past 40 years is absolutely impossible to measure. But beyond that, over the past 15 years or so, he’s become a friend…always such a gentleman and a gracious host. Always inviting me to come to soundcheck and spend some time before the show whenever Rush was passing through. Always sending complimentary copies of his new books, or Holiday emails with pictures of he and his young daughter Olivia. I have so many memories through the years, but probably the most Special was the last time I saw him. I took my son Max to see Rush on their farewell tour as I wanted him to see the band before they retired…Neil ever the incredible gracious host invited us to soundcheck, let Max play his drums, gave him a pair of sticks and an autographed snare drum head and opened up his dressing room to us for the evening. The point is, if you were his guest you were family. I could go on and on and on but I need to process this. Sadly, I’ve known about Neil’s declining health for a few years now and always feared this news…but I am still shaken to the core in shock. My deepest condolences go out to Geddy and Alex, to Carrie and Olivia, to Michael and Lorne and Chris S, to Ray and Pegi, and to all of his faithful fans all around the world of which I will always be one of the biggest. Rest In Peace Bubba You’ll always be my hero 😥 RIP Neil Peart

So sad to hear of the passing of the great Neil Peart of Rush. A revolutionary drummer and lyricist. I had the honor to work with him on The Burnin For Buddy sessions in NYC in the 90s , He was so inspiring and supportive of me , I was so nervous being in the room with him, but he was so comfortable to be around and was all about self-expression, no two drummers are alike he said to me and that made me feel at ease to be myself. A lesson I carried on with me to this day. A sweet caring man with depth of character besides his obvious talent as one of the greatest drummers of all time. #ripneilpeart
