E’ appena uscito il vostro secondo album, “II”, ne siete soddisfatti?
Sì, molto. Siamo molto orgogliosi di questo album e pensiamo sia davvero migliore del precedente.
Ci dici qualcosa su songwriting e produzione del disco?
Sì, abbiamo passato alcune settimane da Phil scrivendo insieme, che è diventato il grosso dell’album. E’ autoprodotto e mixato dal fantastico Kevin Shirley, di cui siamo fan per il suo lavoro con Black Country Communion, Aerosmith, Maiden, Mr. Big, ecc.
Quali sono le maggiori differenze rispetto al precedente lavoro, “Inglorious”?
Sapevamo che stavamo scrivendo un album. Il primo disco è stata la registrazione di alcuni demo che sono diventati un album. Questa volta abbiamo avuto tempo per prepararlo bene e scrivere con un vero e proprio disco in mente. Inoltre, siamo stati in tour per un po’ quindi abbiamo sviluppato una certa mentalità riguardo il songwriting e le vibrazioni.
Siete tutti musicisti con molta esperienza alle spalle, qual è l’eredità che portate con voi negli Inglorious?
Io sono stato in un paio di band precedenti con Phil, quindi ho sviluppato molta esperienza nello scrivere e registrare. Nathan ha cantato per diversi nomi importanti (Uli Jon Roth, Trans Siberian Orchestra, Steve Vai”…). Adde è stato nei Crazy Lixx. Quindi abbiamo tutti familiarità nel produrre canzoni e suonarle bene.
La vostra musica è chiaramente influenzata dagli anni 70, ascolti solo classic rock o cos’altro possiamo trovare nel tuo iPod?
Sono cresciuto ascoltando molto soul/motown che era abbastanza costante in casa mia (grazie a mia mamma). Perciò amo il funk, soul, jazz”… tutti i tipi di musica. Musica con cui non puoi fare a meno di muoverti! In questo momento sto ascoltando “I am” di Earth, Wind and Fire.
Come è nata la band?
Nathan aveva già registrato un album per cui cercava una band live. Mio cugino Drew (chitarra ritmica) ha chiesto a me e Phil di fare un’audizione che abbiamo fatto. Dopo alcuni cambiamenti è arrivato Adde e dopo la dipartita di Wil è tornato Drew. Non abbiamo mai suonato così bene.
I vostri piani futuri? Un tour a supporto del nuovo album e la possibilità di rivedervi in Italia?
Suoneremo a dei festival in Europa a giugno e abbiamo alcune date in Germania. Ad ottobre ci sarà il tour in Inghilterra”… Spero davvero torneremo presto in Italia perché ci piace moltissimo. Serve richiesta. Perciò se le persone convincono i promoter locali a farci suonare noi veniamo!
La tua canzone preferita da “II” e perchè.
Cambia in continuazione per me”… Al momento è “A change is coming” ma prima era “Read all about it”. Anche “‘Farway’” è bellissima.
Qual è la band con cui sogni di andare in tour?
Beh abbiamo già suonato coi “Winery Dogs” e per me è già una bella spunta”… Penso che con Aerosmith e Guns sarebbe fantastico.

Sì, grazie mille per il vostro supporto costante! Aiuta molto una band nuova come noi ad andare avanti e voler scrivere e suonare per voi. Senza di voi non potremmo davvero farlo. Ci vediamo presto!

Hi Elena!
Your second album, “II”, is out, are you satisfied with it?
Yes, very. We feel very proud of this album and feel it’s far better than the first.
Can you tell us something about the songwriting and production of the album?
Yeah, we spent a few weekends at Phil’s writing together which became the bulk of the album. It’s self – produced and mixed by the fantastic Kevin Shirley who we’re a fan of for his work with Black Country Communion, Aerosmith, Maiden, Mr Big etc.
What are the main differences thinking about your previous album ‘Inglorious’?
We knew that we were making an album. The first album was us recording demos which ended up being the album. This time we had time to prepare properly and write with an actual album in mind. Also, we had toured for a while so had developed a common mindset with regards to songwriting and vibe.
You all are musicians with a lot of experience behind you, what’s the heritage you bring with you in Inglorious?
I have been signed before in a couple of bands with Phil so have a lot of experience with writing and recording. Nathan has sung for many great names (Uli Jon Roth, Trans Siberian Orchestra, Steve Vai..). Adde was in Crazy Lixx too. So we’re all familiar with delivering songs and performing them well.
Your music is clearly influenced by the 70s, do you only listen to classic rock or what else can we find in your iPod?
I grew up with a lot of soul/motown on pretty much constantly in my house (thanks to my mum). So I love funk, soul, Jazz”… all sorts of music.. Music that you can’t help but move to! Right now I’m actually listening to ‘I am’ by Earth, Wind and Fire.
How did the band come together?
Nathan had an album already recorded that he wanted a live band for. My cousin, Drew (Rhythm Guitar), asked myself and Phil to audition which we did. Then Adde joined after a few alterations and, after Wil was let go, Drew rejoined. We’ve never sounded so good.
What are your future plans? Any tour supporting the new album and any chances to see you again here in Italy?
We’re playing at a few festivals in Europe in June as well as playing some German dates. Then we have a UK tour in October”…I really hope that we come back to Italy soon as we love it there. There needs to be a demand for us. So if people can get onto their local promoters to get us over we’ll come!
Your favorite song from “II” and why.
It’s constantly changing for me”…. At the moment it’s ‘A change is coming’ but was ‘Read all about it’”… ‘Farway’ is beautiful too.
What’s the band you dream of touring with?
Well we’ve played with the Winery Dogs already so that’s a big tick off for me personally”… I guess Aerosmith or Guns would be amazing.
